About

Project Linus has a two-fold mission: (1) to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteers and (2) to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Mission Statement

Project Linus is a non-profit organization dedicated to donating handmade blankets for newborn to 18-year-old children in need of comfort. With chapters in all 50 states, blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug. Volunteers make blankets (including no-sew fleece blankets) and help organize distribution. The Montgomery County chapter accepts blankets and donations of yarn, material, and related items. Blankets can be knitted/crocheted afghans (no wool), quilts/comforters, or fleece blankets.
