Volunteer Requirements:

Anadult must always accompany volunteers under 16.

Anyvolunteer, 18 years and over, is required to have a criminal background checkdone. The volunteer agrees to pay aprocessing fee which is subject to change and will be discussed at the time thevolunteer begins the application process.

Allindividual and group volunteers will be put through an orientation of theirresponsibilities before their time volunteering.

Sunday-Saturday: 7:30am-9:00pm

FamilyRooms (Individual or Groups):

Sunday-Saturday: 7:00am-10:00pm

Cartwith a Heart (Pairs or Small Groups):

Sunday-Saturday: Anytime we have 2or

morevolunteers to go

together!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

In-House Cleaning: (Individuals orGroup)

RonaldMcDonald House is just that a HOUSE.We run much like your very own householdonly time 17 because thats howmany rooms we have. We need volunteers to help with light household cleaning,organizing closets, separating donations, putting them away, and muchmore. This is a great individual orgroup opportunity for volunteers of all ages.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms:(Individuals or Pairs)

FamilyRooms are miniRonald McDonald Houses and offer all families (local andout-of-town) the opportunity to take a break from the stressful hospitalenvironment. Families are encouraged tocome to the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and enjoy a warm, comfortable setting wherethey can relax and get something to eat or drink. Volunteers are required to commit to aregular volunteer schedule and incur additional training. This opportunity does require the volunteerto step up. Our Ronald McDonald Family Roomsare staffed 100% by our volunteers. Whena shift is not covered, then we are forced to close the doors, thus denyingfamilies the services we provide.

Handy Person: (Individual or Group)

Areyou a Mr. or Ms. Fix-it? Then we needyou! Volunteers are asked to do lighthouse maintenance. This could beanything from changing lightbulbs to fixing a loose cabinet hinge. This can beon-call or prescheduled maintenance as needed.

Office Assistant: (Individual orPairs)

Thesevolunteers can commit to a scheduled or on-call service. Some of the duties of a receptionist are toanswer phones, open the door, do light housekeeping when needed, and inventoryrooms of families checking out of the Ronald McDonald House. Depending on thevolunteers interests and the needs of the Ronald McDonald House, other dutieswill also be requested of these volunteers.

Baking Buddies: (Individual or Group)

Ifyou love to bake, we would love to have you use your talents in ourkitchen! There is nothing morehome-like than the smell of freshly baked cookies. This is a wonderful and fun way toincorporate children into the volunteer experience.

Guest Chef: (Individual or Group)

GuestChefs help to feed the families at the Ronald McDonald House. Schedule the meal, and bring the ingredientsto our beautiful, warm kitchen, and cook the dinner together as a group! We have four ovens, two cooktops, twomicrowaves, and lots of pots and pans to make cooking a snap!

Freezer Friends: (Individual or Group)

FreezerFriends help to fill our casserole freezer to feed our families when we do nothave a guest chef provided. Bring theingredients and schedule a time to prepare the casseroles in our beautifulkitchen or simply donate a store-bought casserole!

Donation Drivers: (Individual)

TheRonald McDonald House has vehicles that are used for transporting familiesto/from the hospital, going to pick up supplies, taking families for scheduledtrips to Wal-Mart or a grocery store, etc. Drivers sign up for scheduled shiftsand/or let us know when they are available for on-call needs to serve as asubstitute for the scheduled driver. Youmust be 21 years or older and have a good driving record.

Of course, you could primarily do mainly one of these jobs or sample all of them until you find what makes you happiest. If you dont see a job that appeals to your desires, then talk to the Programs Coordinator so we can find something that best utilizes your talents. [ emma@rmhcsouthwest ]
